What to expect

The Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus is a fully open-top double-decker bus that is specially decorated in traditional Rickshaw-style livery. The Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus offers passengers a fun and new way to experience the delights of Hong Kong and is really worthwhile for travellers who are not familiar with the complex bus network in Hong Kong - perfect if you’re in town for just a few days as it saves time searching the map!

The bus is a convenient hop-on, hop-off sightseeing service that is unique in that it gives the feeling of riding on an authentic, traditional Chinese rickshaw. Passengers who hop-on can explore the city with a 540 degree panoramic view, which allows you to enjoy all of Hong Kong’s spectacular sights and attractions. The Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus’ lower deck is air-conditioned - a blessing in disguise if you’re looking for an escape from Hong Kong’s hot weather and humidity.

Things to look out for

Choose from 2 routes across Hong Kong Island and Kowloon: The Heritage Route (from 10am) and The Night Scene Route from 5.30pm.

Once aboard the Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus, look out for other old Hong Kong cultural and colonial lifestyle hotspots like the Former Central Police Station Compound and Government House. The bus meanders through Sheung Wan, Wanchai and Causeway Bay, and it’s a good idea to hop off in Wanchai especially to catch a glimpse of Hong Kong’s famous Blue House and visit the Hong Kong House of Stories, a fascinating and quirky museum.

Helpful Tips

Although the lower deck of the bus is air conditioned, make sure you pack a bottle of water and sunscreen as it is worth climbing to the upper deck - which is open air - for a proper look at the city from the comfort of your Rickshaw.

The Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus completes an all-round heritage tour so get the most value for your money by making a day of it. We recommend an early start and remember that you can get on and off the bus whenever you like and however many times you like. But it’s worth noting that, in true Hong Kong style, the bus won’t stop unless you flag it down on the street. Just a simple wave will do the trick!
