What to expect

London is famous for more than its sights – the capital is infamous for traffic jams too. One way you can avoid them is to travel by river and the quickest way to do that is in a high-speed catamaran. One choice could be MBNA Thames Clippers - the fastest and most frequent fleet of high-speed people carriers on the river. Once on board your high-speed vessel, you’ll be frisked along the Thames to disembark at any of 15 different locations, all of which are handy to some of London’s most famous landmarks and sights.

Things to look out for

Thames Clippers run to piers at most of London’s major riverside attractions including the London Eye, Westminster, Bankside and Greenwich. There are a few lesser known attractions just off the beaten track, such as the Emirates Airline Cable Car just eight minutes from North Greenwich Pier, which offers spectacular birds-eye vistas across London. So, whether you’re simply looking for a quick and easy way to cruise the Thames or a family day out at one or more of London’s attractions, the Thames Clippers service is the ideal way to get to your destination free from traffic, while taking in all the sights and sounds of the city.

Helpful Tips

Start your journey at one of three different pick-up points: Embankment Pier, Tower Pier or London Bridge Pier. All are in the centre of London and close to many transport links including the London Underground. Getting to your departure point couldn’t be easier.

Using the GPS function on your Smartphone, the "in:flow" app from Thames Clippers transforms your mobile into an audio guide, pointing out the attractions and providing details of what to see along the way. There are also activity books available for children.

Many drop-off points are close to London Underground stations, from Putney in the West to Woolwich in the East End - so getting home or to your hotel should be just as easy!

All boats are wheelchair accessible, as are all piers, with the exception of London Bridge, Wandsworth Riverside Quarter and Cadogan Piers. You can even bring your bicycle on board.

There is a fully licensed bar on all boats, along with free newspapers and free Wi-Fi at many piers.
