What to expect

Sleek sharks, colourful clownfish, fun-loving penguins and graceful sea turtles - at Sea Life London Aquarium you’ll see them all and much, much, more! This aquarium really is an amazing experience for animal lovers of every age, which is probably why it’s so popular with tourists and locals alike. There is so much to see at Sea Life London Aquarium, you’ll need a full day to take it all in. The attraction is divided into themed zones that include Ray Lagoon, Rock Pool, Ocean Tunnel, Nemo’s Coral Reef and Sea Horse Kingdom. You’ll also be sure to learn a lot about conservation throughout the aquarium.

Things to look out for

Begin your trip with Shark Walk where you can stroll over a glass canopy with perfect views of a typical Pacific ecosystem, including a variety of shark species. Keep an eye out for Betty the Bowmouth Guitarfish near the Ship Wreck.

No trip to Sea Life London Aquarium would be complete without a visit to Penguin Point where you will get to meet the playful Gentoo Penguins native to Antarctica. You’ll notice the large focus on conservation throughout the aquarium. The centre runs breeding programs for a number of species and rescues many sea animals for treatment and later release.

The centre of London might seem an odd location for an aquarium but it only adds to the uniqueness of this amazing attraction. Located on the south bank of the River Thames, within the County Hall building, Sea Life London Aquarium is right beside the London Eye, just across from Westminster Bridge and Big Ben, meaning there are plenty of different transport options for getting there. Public transport is best with Westminster and Waterloo tube stations within easy reach. Charing Cross commuter train station is also nearby. Take the exit next to platform one for Hungerford Bridge; go over the bridge and follow signs for Jubilee Garden.

Helpful Tips

There are plenty of workshops and talks that you won’t want to miss. Make sure that you plan ahead so that you can fit them in your schedule. Times for these are subject to change, so keep an eye on the website or phone ahead to confirm.

Be aware that there are no food outlets inside the aquarium and visitors are asked not to bring food in with them, so it’s a good idea to eat before your visit. There are plenty of local restaurants and cafes.
