Aquila Afternoon Safari (Premium)

Set in the pristine southern Karoo highlands, against a backdrop of dramatic mountains, the Aquila Private Game Reserve & Spa offers an exciting taste of adventure just two hours from Cape Town.

Aquila is home to a variety of games, including the African ‘big five’ consisting of elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and Cape buffalo. On a three-hour afternoon safari, guests will be introduced to these majestic animals, while under the care of an experienced guide.

Enjoy welcome drinks upon arrival, before being whisked off in a traditional bush vehicle for a game-viewing experience that won’t soon be forgotten. Return in time to relax at Aquila’s five-star reserve where a buffet lunch completes the afternoon experience.

The Aquila Rehabilitation and Conservation Centre (ARC) is an outdoor sanctuary sponsored by the reserve that is dedicated to facilitating once doomed ‘canned lions’. These lions live out the remainder of their lives in the comfort and safety of lush one-hectare fenced camps. The ARC is also home to rescued leopards and cheetahs that are cared for as part of a cheetah breeding programme.

ADVICE FOR VISITORS
Guests can opt to use a shuttle service to travel to Aquila, or they can self-drive to the reserve. The trip from Cape Town is about two hours long. After a buffet lunch, the game drive lasts approximately three hours.

Although a great way to see the game at Aquila, there are also other opportunities to see animals. Adventurous visitors may also want to try horseback safaris, fly-in safaris, or a quad bike safari through the reserve.

Bookings are essential. Transfers to and from the reserve are not included. Safari visits must be pre-booked.
