Things to look out for
Ngong Ping village and the Tian Tan Buddha are the jewels of Ngong Ping 360’s crown. The village is diverse, beautiful and fun, hosting festive and themed events that the whole family can enjoy. The Buddha itself is relatively easy to get to, though you will need to climb 200 steps. At the top, there’s a rewarding 360 view where you can see the entire island surrounded by mountains topped with colourful clouds.
You can also learn more about the area and its relationship with Buddha by tuning into a 5D movie at the village’s ‘Motion 360’, or enjoy a walking tour for a more immersive experience called ‘walking with Buddha’. The nearby Buddhist monuments are definitely worth the visit. They’re located just 5 minutes walk away from the main site.
It’s worth starting your trip to Ngong Ping 360 in the morning as the cable cars finish running at 5pm, with buses back to the city running until 6pm, so you’ll get the most out of your visit with a fresh and early start.
