Description
Established in 2004 with the merging of Stellenbosch Vineyards and Vinfruco, Welmoed Estate is one of the oldest proclaimed farms in the Stellenbosch district. Originally granted to Governor Simon van der Stel in 1690, the farm was subsequently owned by Jacobus van der Heyden, who rebelled against the cruel Dutch governor’s rule. Over the years the farm has produced many great wines and continues to maintain its proud wine making tradition today.The tasting room offers the full wine range, laid out perfectly for visits all year round. It also has a toasty fireplace for winter, and has a patio and grass area for enjoying balmy summer afternoons.
