Dia De La Vieja

Location: Almeria
Dating from the 17th century, this is one family fiesta with a countryside picnic full of culture. The Vieja (old woman) is a brightly-coloured paper doll piñata with sweets hidden inside it. After the meal, stones are thrown at the piñata until the sweets fall out. It takes place on the middle Thursday of Lent, and is intended as a midway break from the fasting of the cuaresma.

5th Malaga Flamenco Biennial

Location: Malaga
The Fifth Malaga Flamenco Festival will take place until September and more than 300 artists will take place in the major event. There will be many brilliant singers, dancers and musicians. Some of Malaga province's most attractive towns host several performances, including Antequera, Nerja, Fuengirola, and Ronda. Aside from the main performances, there are always parallel events such as art exhibits, as well as performances in flamenco bars and cultural associations.

Gastronomic Festival

Location: Malaga
This modern festival founded in 2009 consists of all the centre of village bars and cafes offering special tapas reduced prices. Visitors can go on a tapas crawl. Additionally, there are a number of handicrafts and local produce stalls.
