Description

So many of Evandale's 19th century buildings have been so beautifully preserved that the entire town is classified by the National Trust. In fact the jewel in the crown of Tasmania's National Trust, Clarendon Homestead, is just outside this lovely village. Clarendon is one of Australia's great Georgian houses and was completed in 1838 for the wealthy wool grower and merchant, James Cox. Today Clarendon has been restored to its original condition and includes a servant's wing, woolshed, stables, stone barn, cottages and a coach house.
