Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe

Location: Basilica de Guadalupe
This is one of Mexico’s most important religious celebrations. On the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, people from around the country come together at the famous Basilica de Guadalupe in Mexico City to pay their respects and the crowds are enormous! Celebrations are also held in Puerto Vallarta and San Cristobal las Casas where Tzotzil and Tzeltal Indians dress in traditional costumes to pay their respects to the Virgin. The celebrations include special masses, fireworks, processions, parades and live music.

Three Kings Day

Location: Mexico City
Christmas is not over for the kids of Mexico City. On the twelfth day of Christmas, children receive gifts from the three wise kings. Streets in major cities are packed with food stall, gifts and outdoor parties. It is also customary to eat Rosca de Reyes which is a wreath shaped fruity bread.
